Arthur Lange was born October 22, 1891, and the only child of Charles and Lizzie Lange. Art was a popular cousin who liked to have fun with his family. Over the years, he kept in touch with several of his cousins and attended reunions as he, and later, his wife, was able.

His fun loving nature that his cousins enjoyed was shared with his college buddies as well. On this picture Art wrote to his cousin, Lydia, "This was our palatial abode for two wochen. Baten malk hebben. Stawn mal oop. The five of us slept and cooked in this thing!" |

In a July 14, 1972 letter to Lucile Busch (Edwin's wife), Art wrote, in part: "I don't know if you will get this letter in time to read at your reunion. If not-save it for next in case we are no longer around .. "I can well imagine that your gang is becoming bored with your get togethers. Rock & Roll, hippies and what not are more exciting. However, the younger generation can't escape the fact that they too won't stand still and they too will learn all about age. It has always been that way - when we're young we are full of p___ and vinegar. We'll see what happens when they get older and what they will do with the country when they take over. (Course we may never see it, unfortunately, so we can't say 'we told you so'. Take a look at the Democratic Convention doings in Miami. It's a dirty shame and the foreign countries, reds, etc. must surely enjoy watching us all go to h___. "Didn't know Harry's Iona. Was she his wife? The only one I hear from is good old Alma. We have no contact with the others. Never met Richard Busch's wife. Don't know if she is in the L.A. directory. Never even got to see Richard while we were in California. Families, like old soldiers just fade away ... "Let me know if you heard from Queen Gertrude. You want to bet? "Stay as well as you can and write again please. With lots of love, Meta & Art" The following year, both Art and Meta died. Art died in January 1973 and Meta in March. They were 81 and 80, respectively. |
