Margaret, Louis and Gretchen's first child, was born August 31, 1915. She married Arnold Crater (born October 1, 1912) on January 30, 1938. They farmed and raised their children near Havana, Illinois. Arnold and Margaret's first years were made especially difficult with the death of their first three babies; Janet Marie, December 7, 1938 - April 1, 1939; Glen Kenneth, August 31, 1940 - March 15, 1941; Judith Ann, November 17, 1942 - January 10, 1943.
September 20, 1944, Margaret and
Arnold's fourth child, Marilyn Louise was born. Two more children followed,
Marvin Dale, born September 15, 1949, and Kenneth Carl, born April 4, 1956.

Arnold died at age 87 on May 5, 2000, at the Havana Healthcare Center.
He was a member of the Mason County Farm Bureau and a farmer all his adult life. Arnold was a member
of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Havana, Illinois.
